Ricardo Peterson, also known by Blade was born July 11, 1963 to Willie and Bertha Peterson in Michigan City, Indiana.
He accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Ship of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Michigan City, IN. Ricardo attended Elston High School. He worked for the Michigan City Refuse Department for 16 years of loyalty performance. He was also employed at Tri Plex as a laborer.
Ricardo’s hobbies were fishing, going to the casino, and he loved yard work and keeping his yard together. He had a loving spirit, caring for his mom and family and his special aunt Eunice that he loved dearly.
On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Ricardo was called home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his Fathers: Willie Peterson and Richard Smith, Maternal grandparents: Bruce and Olivia Woodard, Paternal grandparents: Rebecca Smith, Owen, and May Peterson, Two nieces; Tasha Peterson and Dannieash Peterson.
Ricardo leaves to cherish his memories His loving Mother: Bertha Peterson, his Children: Rickey Ricardo, Reagan, Rebecca, Dionte, Jaymier, and Arias, of Michigan City, IN; Siblings: Marcella Austin, Beverly Peterson, Danny Peterson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Russell Lipsey, Linda Peterson Barker, Willie John Peterson, Mary Olds, Rita (Ron) Barzoni all of Michigan City, IN; and Floyd Winbush of Indianapolis, IN; his loving Grandchildren: Devontae, Imari, India, Dionte Jr., Demir, and Ramar, of Michigan City, IN; God Mother: Eunice Dickens, of Michigan City, IN; Aunt: Florida (Bill) Pryor of Detroit, Michigan; Uncles: Alphus Woodard Sr., of Michigan City, IN; Dennis (Linda) Woodard of Memphis, TN; and Joseph (Wendy) Sanders of Sagamore, MI; special Friends: Papa Sherman Berry (who was Ms. Bertha's fiancé for over 30 years), Mark Brooks, Edward Rooks, Steve Simmons, and Duck Lenoir, and the Love of his Life, Marlene Kirkwood along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Blade has left us with a LIFETIME of Memories.
His Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at Zion Hill MBC, 123 Helen St., Michigan City, Indiana 46360 at 1:00pm with the visiting hour at 12:00pm. Burial will take place at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens at 1pm.
