HIS LEGACY...
Richard Anthony Gore, known as “Big Rick,” was born on December 13, 1963 in Fort Wayne, IN to Richard L. Sr. and Judy Gore.
Ricky grew up in Michigan City, Indiana and graduated from Roger’s High School, Class of 1983. Ricky found himself as a cook at several different restaurant chains throughout Michigan City. He worked several years alongside his father, Richard L. Sr., as well as the men’s shelter of the Salvation Army, supplying temporary housing and feeding the homeless. At times you would even find Ricky helping and assisting his father in the church kitchen, picnics, and repast.
Early on in Big Ricky’s life, he was known to throw the biggest basement house parties as well as being the DJ. He also DJ’d at wedding receptions and the USA Skating Rink in Michigan City. Later on in life he started to enjoy traveling, sports, such as Nascar, football, basketball, and baseball. Big Ricky was a social butterfly that took pride in music, cooking, and hosting gatherings for his family and friends. On Thursdays, Big Ricky would join his childhood friends at City Lanes Bowling Alley. He would then take his son, Allen Gore, a burger and fries' home too.
Richard Anthony “Big Rick” Gore received his wings on March 30, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Lee Gore Sr., His daughter: Alia Genise Reeves-Gore.
He leaves to cherish his mother: Judy Gore of Indianapolis, IN; his step mother: Diana Gore of Michigan City, IN; his sons: Richard (Ellease) Smith-Gore and Allen Gore of Michigan City, IN; his daughters: Breya (Jamie) Johnson of Indianapolis, IN; Ananda Osenkarski of South Bend, IN; Selena Osenkarski and Amber Osenkarski of Mishawaka, IN; his sisters: Kimberly Williams, Lynette (Ramon) Rodriguez and Tonya Gore all of Indianapolis, IN; his brother: Ryan Scott of Michigan City, IN; thirteen grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Big Rick was an adventurous guy, who enjoyed the outdoors with the company of others, and laughter. He had many of roles in his lifetime but most importantly a father, son, brother, grandfather, and a friend of many. His presence, smile, love, and laughter will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Gone too soon, your time was enjoyed here physically, spiritually we will keep you alive. You’ll be missed, our dear, Big Rick.
A Celebration of life will be held April 20, 2024 at 11am at New Hope Baptist Church 730 W 6th St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Pastor Ronnie Gaston to do Eulogy. Viewing will be 10am until time of service at the Church. Burial will be Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11am, Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
