Theodora R. “Teddy” Thompson, 60, of Michigan City, closed her doors to this life at 8:22 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012, at  Franciscan St. Anthony  Health at with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will take place at 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Theodora was born on March 14, 1952 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Jack C. Caldwell and Barbara Jean Thomas Welch. 

On November 16, 1989, she married Walter Jesse Thompson, Jr. in Michigan City. He preceded her in death October 11, 2011.

She retired from Bethlehem Steel Mill in the year of 2000 after many years of dedicated service.

Teddy was an avid lover of the outdoors. She also loved fishing, painting, gardening and cooking for her family and friends. 

She leaves to cherish her fond  memories, six children,  Jerome Harrison, Walter (Tosha) Thompson and Myrtle (Chris) Thompson  all of Michigan City, Chavonia (Terome) Fordham and Kiwana (James) Proctor both of Gary, Ind., and Shaquan Rowan of Phoenix, Arizona ; 6 grandchildren Desiree and Jasalyn Harrison, Davion Williams, Walter Thompson, Jeremy Thompson and Walter Thompson, Jr. all of Michigan City, IN; special granddaughter Antoya “Tootie” Campbell of Gary, IN; one brother Samuel (Kathy) Welch, Sr. of Michigan City;  special aunt May Etta Kemp of Detroit, Mich.; special niece and nephew Rebecca and Samuel Welch, Jr., great nieces Samantha and Wraena Welch all of Michigan City; special cousin Viola Floyd of Chicago; two special friends Thelma “Red” Robinson and Gwenda Hayes  both of Michigan City; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Theodora was also preceded in death by her daughter Treashel Harrison.
